Essa steals show with treble

KARACHI, Aug 28: Jockey Muhammad Essa stole the limelight with a magnificent treble and did the owner Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagaro proud when his four horses returned with flying colours in eight races in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Essa piloted home two-year-old filly, Bul Bul, in the second race of afternoon finishing ahead of bay colt Moj-e-Arab by 1 ½ lengths.

His second triumph came in the fourth race when chestnut, Patricia, took a sweet revenge of its last week defeat to Thanks Naeem. Three-year-old filly Excalibur finished second while Thanks Naeem had to settle with third place.

Finally, he celebrated the treble when six-year-old bay mare, Bang On Target was declared joint winner with four-year-old bay colt, King Of Sanghar, in the seventh race.

Pir Pagaro’s fourth winner was three-year-old filly, Butter Fly, with jockey Saif Muhammad in the saddle. It was trained by Allah Judrio whose another trained horse three-year-old filly, Voo Doo Doll posted victory in the opener.

Five-year-old chestnut, Lucky Five, ridden by Abdul Aziz, led the pack of eighteen horses emerging victor by 1 ½ lengths. Lucky View took the second spot.

Greek Baran, the seven-year-old bay horse and four-year-old colt, Dragun Heart, clinched wins in the remaining two races of the day.

The race meeting is scheduled to be held on Aug 31.
