KARACHI, Aug 26: The KBCA on Friday sealed one among the thousands of schools being run in residential bungalows at a time when the academic session had already begun.

Denouncing the KBCA action of sealing the school which was being run in a residential bungalow No 199/F, Block 2, PECHS, a number of parents whose wards are studying there have also reportedly lodged their protest with the authorities concerned, saying such an action at a time when admissions in other schools had already been closed amounts to depriving their children of education.

Terming the KBCA action ‘uncalled for’ and ‘unjust’, a number of parents said that it was beyond their comprehension that why the KBCA officials chose to seal the AMI School when thousands of other private schools were also set up in residential bungalows in various localities of the city.

“Had the KBCA officials been sincere in taking action against the school for violating building laws, they would have taken such a drastic action much before the commencement of the academic session,” remarked a perturbed parent of a student of the school in question.

However, a spokesman for the KBCA said that the chief controller of buildings, Brig (retd) A.S. Nasir, had ordered the sealing of AMI School’s building following the complaints from some residents of the locality that a school had been set up in a residential bungalow No 199/F, Block 2 PECHS.

DEMOLITION: Giving details of the action taken by the KBCA officials against illegal structures, the spokesman said that this included demolition of structures which were illegally raised on two unlawfully converted plots Nos B-1/1 and 19/1 in Block 3-A in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.
