Haider grabs lead

PESHAWAR, Aug 25: Dr. Ali Haider led on the opening day of the 17th Independence Day golf tournament which got under way here at PAF Golf Course on Thursday. Haider carded 35 on the opening day of nine holes. He was closely followed by Mehmood Aziz, a three handicap player and former Pakistan national team member with his gross score 37 in the Handicap (0-12) category.

Islam trailed at 38 in third spot, followed by Shumail Aziz (39), Idrees Khaslid (41), Muhammad Hamid (41) and Ibrahim Asad was at 42.

In HCP (13-18 Saad Ilyas (18) carded 39, followed by Rashidur Rehman (43), Zain Tahir and Yahya Khan (44) each.—APP
