CHITRAL, Aug 25: Women could not cast vote at two polling stations of Arandu and Sheshi Woh because no female polling staff were posted there. The stations did not have female polling staff and women declined to cast votes in presence of male staff.

Meanwhile the second phase of the local government elections was held in peaceful atmosphere but with very low turn out.

Low enthusiasm was witnessed and many polling stations offered a deserted look. In the polling station situated at Bakrabad, only 421 voters turned up till 5:00 pm. The staff at most of the polling stations complained of poor management on the part of election commission. They said there was shortage of paraphernalia which created problems for them. As many 204 polling stations had been established for the 155,880 voters of the district.
