HARIPUR, Aug 24: The district police officer (DPO) Haripur has suspended a sub-inspector and two constables Khanpur police station for negligence in duty. While they were on duty an under investigation accused had committed suicide in the lockup of PS Khanpur. Deceased Saleem of village Pind Gakhra Khanpur was arrested on the charges of murdering his real brother Mohammad Aslam. He, according to police, cut his artery near his neck with shaving blade following which he bled to death before any medical aid. Police claimed that the accused was ashamed of committing murder of his real brother and in repentance he committed suicide.
His family, however, had accused the Khanpur police of subjecting him to sever physical torture during the investigation which led to his death.
Taking serious view of allegations, the DPO Haripur Raja Naseer Khan suspended investigating office SI Raja Saeed and two constables Maroof and Gulzar for negligence in duty.
KILLER HANGED: A killer awarded death sentence by the court in a murder case was hanged on Tuesday morning in the Central Prison, here.
Ghaffar son of Abdul Jabbar, resident of Mian village of district Charssada, was hanged this morning in tight security after the court sentenced him to death for murdering Akramullah, resident of Rajar of the same district over a petty dispute.
The deceased was 35. He left behind three daughters to mourn his death.
Earlier, the Home Secretary had stayed his execution for a month on the request of his heirs to reach rapprochement, which was turned down by the heirs of Akramullah. The body was handed over to his heirs.—APP
