KARACHI, Aug 24: A division bench of High Court of Sindh, comprising Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Mohammad Afzal Soomro, on Wednesday issued bailable warrant of arrest in the sum of Rs25,000 against an Assistant Controller of Hyderabad Secondary Education Board who failed to appear before the bench despite notice.

The orders came during hearing of a petition filed by Mohammad Salman Khan, a candidate contesting local bodies elections from UC Sari, Thana Bula Khan against Kaloo Khan.

The petitioner maintains that Kaloo Khan is not a matriculate, and, therefore, could not contest elections.

As the official failed to appear, the bench adjourned the matter till Aug 30 while allowing Kaloo Khan to contest the elections with the condition that his election would be declared null and void if he was proved to be a non matriculate.—APP
