NED emerge Karachi region champions

KARACHI, Aug 23: NED University of Engineering and Technology (NED) won the inaugural PCB Inter-university cricket championship Karachi Region with a comfortable six-wicket win over Baqai Medical University at the National Stadium on Tuesday.

Muhammad Imran smashed an attractive 81 with 11 boundaries and brace of sixesband Asad Bashir hit 33 with four fours but BMU were bowled out for 187 in final over.

NED in reply mustered the required runs in 40th over for the loss of four wickets thanks to sparkling 57 by opener Fazal Khan, who hit five boundaries and a six. Raheel Ahmed made 45 with three fours and Amanullah got 27 with two sixess and a four.

NED will now take on Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro in the two-day final at NSK from Aug 27.

FACULTIES TRIALS

Meanwhile, the trials to select Faculties team for Karachi University Inter-collegiate cricket tournament will be on Wednesday at 11am at Valika Ground, Karachi University Campus, says a press release issued on Tuesday by Directorate of Physical Education Unversity of Karachi.

The tournament will start from Aug 29 at various grounds of the city.
