QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani on Tuesday reviewed progress on the Quetta Safe City project.

The science and information technology secretary and consultant of the project briefed the chief minister on the progress made so far on the project.

The meeting also reviewed the issues which led to the delay in implementation of the project and approved effective measures for their immediate resolution.

Chief Secretary Fazeel Asghar, Inspector General of Police Mohsin Hassan Bhutt, the finance secretary, DIG Quetta and other officials attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that under the Rs2.48 billion project, the fibre optic system would be connected with 1,426 cameras in Quetta, while an effective security system is being established at six different places of transportation in the city where latest cameras would be installed that would read the number plates of vehicles and would send complete data to the record room.

The chief minister was told that under the project, a modern control room is being established and police stations in Quetta would be linked with the central system through fibre optic and radio communication. The security mechanism of the project would consist of four communication levels that will back up each other. If one level is disabled, the other level communication system would remain active, thus through this the chances of failure of the system would be zero.

The meeting was informed that the project consultant had been appointed and he would submit his report soon.
