GWADAR: The Kech police and Pakistan Coast Guards (PGD) have foiled attempts to smuggle drugs by seizing 2,300kg of fine quality hashish in two separate raids in the Turbat and Pasni.

Officials said that they conducted the raids late on Monday night on information from intelligence sources.

SSP of Kech district Najeeb Pandrani told a press conference that police and CIA personnel during a joint operation intercepted a truck carrying crushed stone on the Turbat-Gwadar highway and recovered 1,500kg hashish from it.

“The consignment was packed in 75 packets of 20kg each hidden under the crashed stone,” he said.

In another action, PCG officials seized 800kg of hashish from an mountainous area near Pasni. A PCG spokesman said that a team of the coast guards recovered 800kg of hashish dumped in the desolate mountains.
