BAHAWALPUR: A nine-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries hours after a pack of dogs mauled him while he was playing outside his house on Tuesday.

Police and hospital sources said seven dogs attacked Muhammad Shoaib, 9, who was playing outside his house near Raman level crossing on Ahmedpur East Road. Severely injured, Shoaib was brought to the emergency ward of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) where doctors put him on ventilator.

The child succumbed to his injuries after four hours and doctors said the dogs’ bites cut the veins of his neck leading to severe bleeding.

Commissioner Asif Iqbal Chaudhry immediately asked Deputy Commissioner Shozeb Saeed to hold an inquiry into the tragic incident.
