CHAGAI: The Levies Force has recovered a kidnapped trader after an 11-hour-long operation near the Pak-Afghan border in Chagai district.
The raid was conducted under the command of Assistant Commissioner of Dalbandin Ayesha Zehri.
According to official sources, earlier an alleged kidnapper, Ameenullah, was arrested from the Balanosh area which paved the way for recovery of the kidnapped trader.
“Abdul Hadi, who was kidnapped for ransom from Dalbandin two months ago, was kept in a cave in Shay Hassan area,” Ms Zehri told Dawn while talking on phone. Two alleged kidnappers escaped from the scene just before the raid, she added.
Speaking at a press conference in Chagai, Ms Zehri said that the raiding team had to travel on foot in the rugged mountainous area to reach the cave where the trader was kept. She claimed that Rs40 million had been demanded in ransom through phone calls made to Mr Hadi’s family from Iran and Afghanistan by an organised gang of criminals active in the border areas of both countries.
