HYDERABAD: The Jamshoro district and sessions judge on Friday allowed a civil judge facing rape charges to get his DNA test conducted from any lab of his choice but to do the requisite latest by Feb 21.

The judge is accused of subjecting a woman to rape after calling her into his chamber in Sehwan to record her statement on Jan 13. The woman wanted to go with her husband on the plea that she had contracted a free-will marriage with him.

Earlier, DSP Aurangzeb Abbasi, who is holding an investigation into the allegations, complained that the accused was not cooperating with him even after a new inquiry team had been formed on his request.

The accused later agreed to record his statement before the DSP.
