PESHAWAR, Aug 22: The admission for Engineering University, Peshawar, was held in Peshawar and Abottabad centres on Sunday by the Entry Test Evaluation Authority (ETEA) under strict security measures.
In all, 4,196 candidates appeared for the test at Peshawar centre and 729 appeared at Abbotabad centre, Dr Syed Iqbal Shah, executive director of ETEA said here on Sunday.
He said 300 police Jawans acted as invigilators and on each 20 candidates a constable was appointed to provide the candidates sheets and other necessary materials. While 20 civilians were taken from educational institutions who acted as test managers to oversee the matters regarding test. The test was conducted smoothly and no untoward situation was reported.
A foolproof security measure was taken and only students with identity cards and admission cards were allowed to sit for test, Dr Iqbal said.
He said result would be announced within 24 hours and students could see their results on the ETEA website.
However, 575 drop outs were witnessed as ETEA had mentioned that 5,500 candidates would participate in the test but on the day, only 4,925 students appeared in the test. Dr Iqbal clarified that after the declaration of FSc result, those who did not reach the eligibility mark which was 50 per cent, were not allowed to sit in the test.
The applications regarding unsatisfactory tests results would be taken on Aug 24 and re-totalling would be made on Aug 27 but they had to submit Rs400 with applications.
