Police said Naeem Ahmad, 30, was on way to the college where he worked as an assistant when an intra-city franchised service bus hit him. He suffered critical injuries and died before first aid.

Passersby and residents gathered on the scene and damaged the bus after its driver managed to escape. They intercepted two more buses of the company and damaged them. The protesters blocked the road for more than two hours. They dispersed after the police assured them of action against the bus company.

Meanwhile, five people suffered injuries when a bus hit a tree in Shahdara.

They were admitted to hospital where at least two of them were stated to be in critical condition.
