SANGHAR, Aug 22: A boy who had bitten by a dog died in Malik Mohalla here on Monday. The victim’s mother and three brothers were also in a critcal condition. They too were bitten by the said dog.

Ms Asat, wife of Mohammad Urs, and his four sons, Sher Mohammad, 16, Sher Ali, 14, Yar Mohammad, 10, and four-year-old Mohammad Yaqoob, were bitten by the pet dog about 70 days ago.

Mr Urs is a waiter and hardly earns Rs100 a day.

Soon after the incident victims were taken to the Sanghar Civil Hospital for administrating anti-rabbis vaccine but the hospital staff demanded Rs500 per case which was beyond the reach of the family.

On Saturday, Sher Mohammad started symptoms of hydrophobia and was taken to the civil hospital from where he was referred to Nawabshah.

He was declared untreatable by doctors of the People’s Medical College Hospital and died in a miserable condition on Monday.

The dog had attacked many children in the locality and all of them remain untreated as the ARV was not available in the district headquarter hospital and taluka hospitals.

A buffalo bitten by the dog had already died.

It may be mentioned that in the Sanghar hospital record, several vials are shown in the stock or administered to victims.

In practical, a majority of dog-bite cases are referred to other hospitals on the plea that the ARV is not available.

The efficacy of the ARV is also doubtful because many patients have died of hydrophobia even after inoculation.
