KARACHI, Aug 22: The Jamaat-i-Islami Karachi on Monday condemned the kidnapping of its worker and torture on him allegedly by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activists.

According to a press release, a JI worker of UC-6 Surjani Town, Mohammad Iqbal, was sitting outside his house in Surjani when more than 12 MQM activists allegedly kidnapped him and subjected him to torture and later threw him in Sector 7-B.

Meanwhile, the JI Karachi leader, Mohammad Hussein Mehanti, on Monday demanded re-election in Karachi.

Speaking at a protest demonstration at Karachi Press Club, he criticised President Pervez Musharraf for felicitating MQM chief Altaf Hussein on victory of Haq Parast candidates.—PPI
