SHEIKHUPURA: Five people were shot dead allegedly by their rivals when they were going to Faisalabad to appear in court on Friday.

Shakoor, Shahnawaz, Khurram, Akmal and Shahid were on their way to Faisalabad by motorcycles when assailants opened fire on them killing them on the spot.

The Safdarabad police said Ishtiaq and Shafi of Awagadh village had rivalry for the last 12 years or so over a piece of land. Shafi and his accomplices had shot dead two persons of the rival group a month ago.

Ishtiaq group decided to exact revenge and killed five people.

District Police Officer Ghazi Salahuddin directed the Safdarabad police to arrest the killers.
