Number plates

THIS refers to several letters in these columns on car number plates.

Like other Sindh government departments, the Sindh excise and taxation department too is also plagued by apathy.

One wonders what would happen if the Sindh government also took over the issuance of licences as being proposed.

Despite having paid the requisite fee upfront at the time of purchase of a new car, one has to make countless calls/visits to official car dealers or the motor vehicle section at the Civic Centre for a tentative date for a number plate, but to no avail.

It becomes doubly frustrating and exasperating when one is checked by traffic police for not having a standardised official number plate.

The Sindh chief minister and the minister/secretary concerned should look into this matter.
