MIRPURKHAS, Aug 20: Five people, including the general secretary of the People’s Party Parliamentarians, Umerkot district, were remanded in police custody on Saturday in a case lodged against them with the Umerkot police station on Friday.

They included Anwar Rajar, general secretary of PPP district Umerkot, his brother Ali Murad Rajar, Raza Rajar, Ibrahim Kumbhar and Gulbahar.

They were remanded for five days in police custody. On Friday, Khan Mohammad Mahar, a candidate for the post of Nazim UC Atta Mohammad Palli lodged a case with the Umerkot police under section 324,147,148,337 A (1) and 337 F (1), alleging that the accused had attacked him in a polling station, tortured and fired on him.

One accused Rehmatullah Rajar was absconding.

BOOKED: The Satellite Town police booked eight persons for resorting to firing and beating a person going to cast his vote on Friday. Nisar Ahmed Abbasi has lodged a case u/s 147, 148, 149, 337F(1) and 337H(ii) PPC with the Satellite Town police, stating that he along with his uncle, a blind, was going to cast their votes at polling station government girls Model primary school Walkart in UC-6 on Thursday when Mohammad Siddique Makrani, Saeed alias Lalloo Makrani, Naeem Makrani, Pervez alias Perado, Saleem Makrani and three unknown persons resorted to firing and beat him, causing injuries.
