MANSEHRA: A DNA test has confirmed the sexual assault of a minor child by his teacher inside a seminary of Parhana area last month.

“The examination of DNA samples from the accused, Qari Shamsuddin, confirmed that he sexually assaulted the 10-year-old seminarian,” district police officer Sadiq Baloch told reporters on Friday.

Senior superintendent of police Arif Javed, who is part of the Joint Investigation Team formed to investigate the assault, was also present on the occasion.

Without naming JUI-F leader Mufti Kifayatullah, the DPO said the people, who harboured the accused, would be booked under the relevant laws.

The JIT led by Mr Baloch had also quizzed Mr Kifayatullah last week.

He is accused of protecting and hiding the accused before handing him over to police.

Mr Baloch said the police would recommend the speedy trial of the accused in the model court.

The JUI-F’s provincial executive committee has already suspended Mr Kifayatullah as the party’s district emir and formed a committee to look into his alleged involvement in the matter.
