THIS is apropos the news ‘BISP takes action against officers who got government help meant for poor’ (Jan 9). BISP chairperson Dr Sania Nishtar has taken a government service.
In her recent Twitter post, she noted that 2,543-odd government servants or their spouses had got registered themselves as beneficiaries with the Benazir Income Support Programme. The government should weed out black sheep in the civil service and other allied departments and BISP dues unjustifiably consumed by such elements should be recovered.
This just shows how fundamentally important it is that ‘impartial, forensic accountability’ is conducted in every organisation and organ of the state where financial inflows or outflows are concerned if we are truly interested in becoming a Riasat-i-Madina.
