Three-Nation Regatta from Sept 8

KARACHI, Aug 19: The Tri-Nation Asian Yachting Regatta will be held at Defence Marina Club from Sept 8 to 11, Pakistan Sailing Federation (PSAF) announced on Friday. The event was scheduled to start from Sept 9 but will now commence a day earlier on the request of Yachting Association of Sri Lankans, (YASL) Secretary PSAF Capt (Retd) S.V. Hasan said.

He informed that defending champion Pakistan and their arch-rival Indians were the other participating teams. Besides Enterprise team racing, Enterprise individual event and girls and boys team and individual Optimist championship are part of the Regatta.

The event will be main confrontation between Pakistan and India as the host won the last event in Mumbai. In the meantime a 13-member YASL team will figure in the competition according to a message received by PSAF.

Enterprise class sailors included W.P.K Janaka/W.M.C. Marambe, Akshan Jirasinha/ J.M.P.L. Jayasooriya, W.A.R. Nishantha / J.H.T.C. Appuhamara.

Optimist sailors are Devin Goonawrdene, Viren Das, Ishan Abeysekera, Nadine De Rosiro. Ramayantha Dharmasiriwadene will be the manager of the team.—APP
