HYDERABAD, Aug 19: The PPP-backed Awam Dost Panel has been almost wiped out in the interior of Sindh where the govt-backed Khushhal Pakistan Panel and Haq Parast Group have registered a clean sweep in first phase of local body elections.

In newly-created district of Tando Allahyar, govt-backed Azad-Magsi group won 16 seats of UC nazims, of 19 and 195, seats of councillors on various seats, according to unofficial results.

The ADP won only three seats of UC nazims. They include Dasori, Mirabad and Sheikh Moosa.

There were 19 UCs in the district where two nazims UC VI and Bukera Sharif had returned unopposed after no candidates were filed against them.

There was seat-to-seat adjustment between Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Haq Parast Group and AMI in four urban UCs of the district whereas in rural constituencies of UCs it was one-on-contest between ADP and AMI.

HPG-backed candidates won as UC nazims in UC-1, UC-2 and UC-3.

On two of four UCs, the ADP had fielded two separate panels of candidates on UC-2 and UC-3 as local PPP leaders Abdul Sattar Bachani and PP Parliamentarian MPA Syed Ali Nawaz Shah Rizvi finally losing them.

On UC-IV city and Bukera Sharif ADP did not field any candidate, enabling AMI’s candidates to return unopposed. ADP won UCs, Mirabad, Dasori and Sheikh Moosa.

However, according to MPA Dr Irfan Gul Magsi, the remaining 16 UCs were won by his group to place its group in a commanding position for district nazim election.

His elder sister Dr Rahila Magsi is an aspirant for the slot of district nazim.

In 2001 local body elections Mr Magsi had won as UC nazim Chambar-1, beating ADP’s Amin Hyderi.

Then he opted for general elections and was elected MPA from PS-52 as an independent.

MIRPURKHAS: Pro-government candidates won 24 seats in all either contesting single-handedly or making seat adjustments whereas independent and ADP won nine seats in Mirpurkhas district, according to unofficial results of 35 UCs in the district.

The district comprised 41 UCs.

According to details of results of 35 obtained on Friday, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-backed Haq Parast Group (HPG) and PML’s Khushhal Pakistan Panel won nine seats of UC nazims.

The joint panel of KPP and Faqeer Dost Panel won four seats of UC nazim and naib nazim whereas Awam Dost Panel candidates won eight UCs in the district.

The candidates of Faqeer Dost Panel alone grabbed seven seats of UC nazim and naib nazim in the district whereas independent candidates won in two UCs.

Another joint panel of ADP and Watan Dost Panel won single UC seat while KPP-backed candidates alone won four UCs in the district.

THATTA: As per unofficial results compiled through various reliable sources, PML affiliated Shirazi group is the major winner in local body elections.

The group succeeded in forty union councils out of forty one.

Fourteen nazims and naib Nazim pairs of Shirazi and its coalition partner Malkani had already returned unopposed.

According to details, Shirazi group nazim pair, Mohammad Hassan Heejab and Anwar Brohi succeeded by getting 2,953 votes against its opponents Khalique Soomro and Ashraf Soomro of ADP who got 1,490 votes in UC Chhato Chand.

On UC Thatta-I, nazim pair of the Shirazi group comprising Nadir Shah and Tariq Brohi got 2,937 votes and succeeded against ADP candidate Dr Naeem Bhatti and his naib nazim candidate who got 587 votes.

In UC Laiqpur, Shirazi group nazim pair, Khan Mohammad Soomro and naib nazim Abdul Hakim Bhambro received 1,489 votes defeating ADP pair which bagged 566 votes.

In UC Jati, Malkani group’s nominated Nazim pair succeeded by getting 1,666 votes as against the pair fielded by Shirazi group which bagged 714 votes.

In UC Belo, Shirazi group contestant pair got 5,321 votes while the ADP candidate pair got 2,257 votes.

In UC Daro, the nazim pair field by Shirazi group comprises Haji Jawed and Nawaz Soomro won by getting 3,730 votes against the ADP candidate pair which got 1,613 votes.

In UC Mirpur Sakro, Shirazi pair obtained 1,800 votes and ADP 1,100 votes.

In UC Sukhpur, Shirazi group pair got 2,700 against the ADP pair which got 600 votes.

SANGHAR: PPP-backed Awam Dost Panel has been knocked out from the district by Faqir Dost Panel backed by PML-F of Pir Pagaro.

There are a total of 55 union councils, of which FDP candidates won on 40 UC seats, while nine seats were won by their allies Junejo and Jam groups, one by Haq Parast Group and five UC seats by ADP candidates.

About 15 UC nazim and naib nazim pairs were elected unopposed including one ADP candidate and 14 FDP candidates.

No independent candidate succeeded from any union council.

Besides, nazims and naib nazims, majority of general, labour and minority councillors of FDP have won.

There are 715 councillor seats in the district who are electoral college for taluka and district nazims and naib nazims.

The hopeful candidates have started manoeuvring.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: PML-backed Khushhal Pakistan Panel won seats of nazims in 35 union councils of 51 in the district, Awam Dost Panel bagged six seats, Syed group four seats and Lakyari group backed by patriot and PPP bagged six seats of UC nazims in the first phase of local body elections.

Taluka Moro: UC-1 Moro, Dr Mohammad Aslam Qureshi, UC-II Moro, Syed Maqbool Shah, UC Gachero, Haji Rasool Bux Bughio, UC Manaheen, Zulfiqar Behan, UC Jatoi, Iqbal Ahmed Jatoi, UC Fato Bilal, Mohammad Younus Solangi, UC Laila, Ali Asghar Khero, UC Deparja, Asif Ali Jatoi, UC Kehkot, Riaz Hussain’ UC-III Moro, Mohammad Hashim Nawal, all from Khushhal Pakistan Panel won the eats.

In UC Khair Wah, Naseer Khan returned unopposed while in UC Dars, ADP candidate Mohammad Chhuttal Abro won the seat of nazim.

Taluka Naushahro Feroze: UC Naushahro Feroze, ADP candidate Pir Kamal won the seat of nazim against Jatoi group candidate, Khalifa Shakeel Ahmed.

Ghulam Mohammad Abbasi advocate (KPP) won in UC Kor Hassan, Gul Munir in UC Padidan, Nadir Rajpar in UC Bhambri, Ghulam Sarwar in UC Darya Khan Mari, Sajjad Hussain Goraho in UC Mithiani, Syed Ghulam Raza in UC Abran, Imtiaz Ali Dahiri in Musurji Wah, Habibullah in UC Noorpur.

In UC Phul, retired superintendent prison Mohammad Hayat Phull (independent) won the seat of nazim.

Taluka Bhirya: Sohail Abbasi in UC Ghair Gajo, Faiz Mohammad Panhwar in UC Dalipota, Qadeer Sehto in UC Molhan, all from KPP won the UC to slot.

ADP candidates Pir Bux Ujjan in UC Palano, Dost Mohammad in UC Khahi Qasim, Amanullah Chohan in UC Bhirya Road were elected.

Syed group’s candidate Zafar Ali Rajpar won in UC Chahi Suleman, Syed group’s Bahadur Khan in UC Kot Bahadur.

Taluka Kandiaro: KPP candidates won seats of nazims.

Abdul Ghaffar Dahraj in UC Mohabbat Dero, Sher Khan Ghanghro in UC Ghanghro, Maqsood Ali Khushik in UC Khan Wahan, Ghulam Murtaza Samtio in UC Kamal Dero, Nadir Ali Kaleri in UC Ghulam Shah, Sajjad Ali Shah in UC Kandiaro.

Whereas ADP candidates Mazhar Hussain in UC Darbelo, Ahmed Nawaz Bhurt in UC Bhorti, Manzoor Hussain Channa in UC Abad, Mohammad Hashim Ujjan in UC Jam Noorullah won seats of nazims.

Taluka Mehrabpur: KPP candidates Abdul Wahab Memon in UC-1 Mehrabpur, Mehtab Ahmed Shaikh in UC Lakha Road, Farooq Ahmed Lodhi in UC Mehrabpur-II, Imran Ali in UC Saeedpur, Mohsin Ali Talpur in UC Jiando Rajpar.

In UC Halani, Lakyari group backed by patriot PPP and PPP, Syed Abrar Ali Shah, and Lakyari group’s Shahid Akram Malik in UC Behlani won the nazim seats.

MITHI: Five pairs of Khushhal Pakistan Panel have reportedly emerged victorious at the slots of nazim and naib nazim in five union councils, of six, where contest for these seats was held on Thursday whereas the remaining one seat has been bagged by Awam Dost Panel in district headquarter town Mithi.

Arbab-backed candidates have already been elected unopposed as UC nazim and naib nazim in 38 UCs of 44 in Tharparkar district.
