Another MPA joins PML

LAHORE, Aug 18: Sheikhupura PML-N president and MPA Rao Jahanzeb called on Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi here on Thursday and announced his joining of the ruling party.

Ferozewala MPA Syed Ali Abbas Gul Agha accompanied Mr Jahanzeb who reposed confidence in the leadership of the chief minister and PML president Shujaat Husain.

The chief minister said he welcomed all those joining the PML which would take full advantage of their abilities for its reorganization.

He said the PML’s campaign to contact the people would get a new impetus because of the inclusion of the leaders and workers of other political parties. The PML government had under the leadership of President Musharraf improved the country’s economy and defence.

He said gathering of all patriotic elements on a single platform was strengthening the political system in the country, leading to the acceleration of the process of reform and development.

Mr Jahanzeb said he was joining the PML because he was impressed with the vision and reform agenda of the chief minister. He would organize the party in Sheikhupura as a worker of the party.

SUPPORT: Meanwhile, the chief minister has declared MNA Chaudhry Asim Nazir and Rana Imtiaz Ahmad as the PML candidates for the office of Faisalabad and Kasur district nazims.

He showed the party support for Mr Nazir during a meeting with Faisalabad MNAs and MPAs who called on him under the leadership of Federal Law Minister Wasi Zafar, Federal Textile Minister Mushtaq Cheema, Punjab Communication and Works Minister Chaudhry Zaheeruddin and former nazim Zahid Nazir.

The chief minister said Mr Nazir had the ability to lead the people of Faisalabad, hoping he would work hard for the development of the city after his election.

The chief minister also announced the party support for different candidates to the seats of town nazims in Faisalabad district. They included Chaudhry Munir Ahmad (Jaranwala town), Ali Gohar Baloch (Tandlianwala), Chaudhry Shahnawaz (Samundari) and Fawwad Ahmad Cheema (Jhumra).

Besides declaring Rana Imtiaz as the party-supported candidate for the office of Kasur district Nazim, he also announced the PML support to the Kasur tehsil nazim candidate Malik Rashid Ahmad.

Both of them had held a separate meeting with the chief minister.
