BADIN, Aug 18: Tharparkar Lund Welfare Association president Mohammad Khan Lund and Awam Dost Panel candidates have alleged that their polling agents were kidnapped and supporters were not allowed to vote.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday evening, ADP candidate for the seat of nazim of Kaloi, Rasool Bux Lund, and councillor candidates Abdul Aziz Lund, Abu Bakar Lund and others further alleged that election officials posted at the eight polling stations of the Kaloi union council, Tharparkar district, were favouring a candidate for the seat of nazim, Arbab Abdul Khaliq, a brother of the chief minister.

They alleged that when their agents reached the polling stations set up at Dhodharo Farm, Kumhario, Haji Bhoot, high school, primary school and Dodo Jat they were not allowed entry by the polling staff.

They said their two agents, Yaqoob Lund and Ahmad, were locked in a room at the Haji Bhoot polling station and Roshan Lund and Abdul Kaim Lund, agents at the Kaloi polling station, were beaten up and harassed.

They further said their women agents, Fatima and Niamat, were also tortured and they were replaced by men at a women’s polling station at the Boys’ Primary School.

The candidates said their voters were also harassed. They also accused the polling staff of stuffing ballot boxes. They demanded that the election in Kaloi should be declared null and void.

They said they had sent reports of the incidents to the acting Chief Election Commissioner.
