Pakistan condemns Bangladesh blasts

ISLAMABAD, Aug 18: Pakistan on Thursday condemned as a “vicious act of terrorism” hundreds of bomb blasts that occurred in Bangladesh on Wednesday and expressed hope that the perpetrators would soon be brought to justice.

A foreign ministry statement regretted the loss of lives, injuries to people and damage to properties by about 350 small bombs set off across the country within an hour of each other.

At least two people were killed and more than 100 injured by the blasts in 64 towns in an unprecedented attack initially linked to a banned Islamic group.

“This vicious act of terrorism is an attempt to create panic among the peace-loving populace of Bangladesh and create a law and order situation in the country,” the Pakistani statement said.

“The government of Pakistan hopes the perpetrators of this heinous crime would soon be apprehended and brought to justice,” the statement said.
