PESHAWAR, Aug 17: Security forces have tracked down seven militants, including a foreigner, in a seminary near Miramshah, North Waziristan, during a three-day long search operation.

An Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release said here on Wednesday that the alleged terrorist had set up their camp in Madrassah Abu Shoaib for planning and organising activities in the area.

An official said that seven militants were arrested during the search operation, but refused to disclose their identity or origin of their foreigner accomplice.

The press release said that the action was taken on a tip provided by gang leader Mir Hamza, 24, who was arrested by the security forces in the volatile area. It said that accused Mir Hamza had been running the seminary which was established by his late brother.

On the basis of the information –provided by him, the security forces conducted an operation on July 27 in which one suspect, Abdul Latif, was killed. The deceased reportedly belonged to Lakki Marwat district and was called ‘Malang’.

Military authorities said that the arrested suspects were being grilled by secret agencies. They have reportedly admitted that they had been using the seminary as a planning centre for target killings, rocket attacks on the military installations and recruiting and training of terrorists.

Officials said that during the interrogation Mr Hamza revealed that his group was involved in attacks on allied forces inside Afghanistan.

The ISPR PR said that a large cache of arms and ammunitions, including grenades, rockets, detonators, booby traps, improvised explosive devices and documents containing circuit diagrams and hand written notes were recovered from them.

Pazeer Gul adds from Miramshah: One sepoy sustained injuries when unknown people attacked a mobile squad of army and paramilitary forces on Tuesday night.

The incident took place six kilometres east of Miramshah Bazaar near Door Chashma bridge at around 11pm on Tuesday night. The forces laid siege of the area but no arrest was made.

RAIN: A brother and a sister were killed when roof of their house caved in in Hamdozai village due to rains and sharp winds here on Wednesday. An eight-month-old baby escaped the incident miraculously. Rains also caused massive damage to standing crops in the agency.
