Hameed on course for double

ISLAMABAD, Aug 17: Defending champion Hameedul Haq checked into the quarterfinals of the Asian seniors tennis championship blanking home player Sanaprom Werachai on Wednesday in Pattaya, Thailand.

Hameed, the second seed, competing in the 40 and over category was in ruthless form and routed his opponent 6-0, 6-0. He will now play Japan’s Yubata Keishi in the last eight on Thursday.

The Pakistani was also a class act in the 35 and over category. He hammered Hong Kong’s Law Bo 6-1, 6-1 to make the quarterfinals where he will face American Colburn.
