LAKKI MARWAT: The police on Saturday arrested two persons and seized narcotics and weapons from their possession.

An official said Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police captured a drug trafficker, Javed Rasool in Zahidabad area of Naurang, and recovered 730 gram heroin from him. He said that the police registered a case against him and started investigations.

Separately, Lakki city police arrested Ayaz Khan and seized an assault rifle, spare magazines, bullets and a motorcycle from him. The arrested man belongs to Kurrum Par area. A case was registered against him.

Meanwhile, the local chapter of all primary teachers association has demanded of the Bannu educational board to pay remuneration to the teachers who performed duties during the fifth and eighth grade assessment, last year.

The demand was made at a meeting held in Tajazai on Saturday with association’s district president Haji Abdul Rahim in the chair.

The participants expressed resentment over delay in payment of remuneration to the teachers.

On the occasion, Mr Rahim said the provincial government had conducted assessment of fifth and eighth grade students through educational boards last year, but the teachers, who performed duties as superintendents, deputy superintendents and invigilators were yet to be paid their remunerations. He said different teachers’ bodies had repeatedly requested officials of the educational board to ensure payment of remuneration to teachers, but to no avail.
