Aqib sets final date against Bilal

ISLAMABAD, Aug 16: Aqib Hanif of Punjab and NWFP’s Bilal Zaman set up a clash in the under-19 final of the Hashim Khan National junior squash championship scoring exciting semifinal victories on Tuesday. In a fine display Aqib carved out a 9-3, 0-9, 9-2, 9-5 win over NWFP’s Alamzeb Jr while Bilal had to go the distance in overcoming Adil Atlas before winning 10-8, 6-9, 8-10, 9-2, 9-4.

In the under-17 category, Waqar Mahboob and Shoaib Hassan qualified for the decider picking up comfortable victories in the tournament at the Mushaf Squash Complex.

Waqar’s victim was Shahzad Khan who was dispatched 9-3, 9-4, 9-4 while Shoaib was in a big rush as he walloped Intikhab Alam 9-0, 9-0, 9-1 in what was an impressive victory.

The final of the boys under-15 final will see Nosherwan up against Farhan Zaman after both recorded straight-game wins in the semifinals.

Noshwerwan knocked out Aurangzeb 9-5, 9-4, 9-5 and Farhan eliminated Ali Ayub 9-2, 9-2, 9-2.

Under-13: Hamza Bukhari bt M. Haroon 9-5, 9-5, 9-6, Nasir Iqbal bt Nouman Zaman 9-2, 9-3, 9-1

Under-11: Ali Bukhari bt Rizwan Gul 9-5, 9-5, 9-1, Ammad Farid bt Arslan 10-9, 9-5, 9-6.

Girls under-15: Habiba bt Sana 9-0, 9-3, Roshna bt Bushra 9-0, 9- 1, 9-0

Girls under-17: Zoya bt Ana Batool 10-8, 9-6, 9-0, Mehwish bt Maliha 9-0, 9-3, 9-7.
