ISLAMABAD, Aug 13: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, has said there is little to rejoice on the 58th Independence Day as the country and its institutions have been hijacked by a few and the dreams of the founding fathers for the teeming millions have gone sour.

“Ordinarily today should be a day of rejoicing and celebrations to mark the emergence, fifty eight years ago, of a separate homeland wherein we could live in freedom and shape our lives according to our values.

NAWAZ, SHAHBAZ: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML) Rehbar and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif have congratulated the whole nation on celebrating the 58th Independence Day.

In a message received here, the PML leaders have asked the nation to strive for the implementation of the 1973 Constitution

SHUJAAT: Pakistan Muslim League President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has asked all Pakistanis to unite despite all superficial political differences on the agenda “to save Pakistan from extremism and terrorism”.
