LAHORE, Aug 13: Why the Lahore Resolution is called the Pakistan Resolution, what led to bloodshed at the time of partition and several other queries about the Quaid-i-Azam’s secularism were answered at a sitting at the Pakistan Railways Academy in Walton on Saturday.

The questions were put up by trainees at the academy before Tehrik-i-Pakistan leader Syed Ahmad Saeed Kirmani, Punjab University history department head Prof Dr Qamar Abbas and Munir Ahmad Munir at the ideological sitting held in connection with the Independence Day.

Mr Kirmani also recalled the Independence Movement and the memories of the days he spent with Sardar Abdur Rab Nishtar.

Prof Dr Qamar Abbas spoke about the historical background of Pakistan and responsibilities of the present generation.

Academy Director-General Nazir Ahmad said in his address of welcome that true leadership could not emerge unless the virtues of honesty and intelligence were mixed.

Sheikh Ashraf, a retired chairman of the railways, also spoke at the ceremony.
