State Bank issues Rs20 note

KARACHI, Aug 12: The State Bank on Friday announced the issuance of new currency note of Rs20 denomination having attractive design and features of leading currencies to prevent imitation.

“It will be very very difficult to copy or scan this note as we have the latest technology which is being used by the European currency euro,” State Bank Governor Dr Ishrat Husain said while announcing the salient features of the note.

He pointed out that all the existing rupee notes of different denominations will have the same feature in the year 2006. He said that all the field offices of the SBP Banking Services Corporation all over the country would start issuing the new note from Saturday.

The SBP chief thanked the Security Printing Press of Corporation for printing this note according to world best standards.—APP
