PESHAWAR, Aug 12: Corps Commander Lt-Gen Safdar Hussain has said that President Gen Pervez Musharraf is likely to announce a development package for tribal areas soon.

In a felicitation letter addressed to over 1,000 ulema and elders of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas in connection with the Independence Day, the corps commander said that the president was expected to visit the tribal areas soon. He praised ulema and elders for their cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

He said some anti-Pakistan elements had tried to create misunderstandings between security forces and tribesmen but they had failed in their nefarious designs.

Unfortunately, he said a few terrorists had found sanctuary in North Waziristan and were carrying out sabotage activities in the area.
