PESHAWAR, Aug 12: A candidate for a union council seat and his nephew were killed in an attack on Palosi Road here on Thursday. The other nephew was injured and admitted to hospital, police officials said.
Mohammad Azam of Muqtadarzai village, told the University Town police that his brother Bakhtiyar Hussain was going somewhere along with his two nephews, Faiz-ur-Rehman and Talha, when his rival opened fire on them.
Bakhtiyar died on the spot, while Rehman died in hospital. Talha was admitted to the Khyber Teaching Hospital in critical condition, Azam said.
Mohammad Azam accused Fazle Akbar, Younus and Saleh of killing his brother and nephew.
He told police that some time ago Amir Sayyab, a brother of Younus, had been killed by some people and the family suspected that Bakhtiyar Hussain was involved in the killing.
In another incident, the body of Ibadat Khan was found from the fields in Regi village on Thursday. Khan Afzal, the father of the deceased, told Nasirbagh police that his son had been kidnapped and killed by Jehanzeb, Nisar, Seraj, Iftikhar and Israr on Wednesday night.
ARRESTED: The city police arrested on Friday two alleged car thieves, Jameel of Jehangira, and Sheraz of Tur Dher, and recovered a stolen car from their possession.
