LONDON: Mian Mumtaz Daultana, who flew home today [Dec 2] after a two-month stay here for medical check-up, has denied that he concluded a ‘deal’ with Sheikh Mujibur Rahman or other Pakistani leaders who visited Britain recently.

The Council Muslim League President told [the correspondent] “certain Pakistani newspapers reported recently that there were secret negotiations between me and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and that a ‘deal’ about Pakistan’s political future had been concluded by us. These reports are entirely without foundation”. Mr Daultana said that any agreements between Pakistani political leaders and parties “must be openly negotiated and openly arrived at”. The secret ‘deals’ of the kind mentioned by the newspapers were in his view a “negation of democracy”. — Correspondent

[Meanwhile, as reported by an agency in Quetta,] The proposed University in Quetta, which is expected to start functioning by mid-1970, is likely to be located in the building of the College of Mineral Technology at Sariab road near the headquarters of Geological Survey of Pakistan, it is learned. Since the scheme for opening the College of Mineral Technology has been dropped by the Government, the ultra-modern building completed at a cost of over Rs1.5 crore is lying vacant with spacious space for further expansion.
