Jahangir for Brazil

Published August 12, 2005

KARACHI, Aug 11: World Squash Federation (WSF) chief Jahangir Khan will preside over this year’s WSF Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held in Costa do Sauipe, Bahia, Brazil from Nov 17-19.

Jahangir said on Thursday that the decision at the last AGM to hold the 2005 AGM and Conference in Mexico, changes have occurred in the Mexican Federation and the new authorities confirmed to the WSF their inability to take on the event given the transition.

Having the 2005 AGM in Brazil represents a valuable tool to kick-start growth in the Panamerican region, particularly in Latin America, and gives a boost to our efforts of keeping Squash in the programme of the Panamerican Games Rio 2007.

The theme of this year’s Conference is “Taking Squash to the Next Level”. The Olympic bid cycle has provided rich data and analyses That point to where the WSF wants squash should be headed as a sport.—PPI
