ISLAMABAD, Aug 11: President General Pervez Musharraf has promulgated an ordinance for the establishment of Pakistan Intellectual Property Rights. The ordinance, to be called PIPRO 2005, is extended to the whole of Pakistan and deemed to have taken effect on August 7, 2005.

The organization will provide protection of Intellectual Property Rights in Pakistan and for all matters connected with it.

An official announcement issued on Thursday said that in the first board meeting of the newly-created Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO) a number of decisions were taken. The meeting identified capacity-building needs of the new organization and its field offices.
