PESHAWAR, Aug 11: The University of Peshawar has planned to hold a number of events and competitions to celebrate the Independence Day. A press release issued here said that a rehearsal of the programmes was held at Convocation Hall of the university here on Thursday.

The registrar, the provost, the administrative officer, the security officer, principals of affiliated schools and students were present on the occasion.

The 14th August celebrations would start from a colourful and impressive ceremony of flag hoisting by the vice chancellor. Students from schools and colleges will sing national anthem. Later they will present tableau, deliver speeches and sing national songs.

Various buildings including trees and offices of the university will be illuminated and the vice chancellor will also plant a sapling in front of administration block.

Sweets will be distributed among students and children of campus.—Correspondent
