PPP leader passes away

GILGIT, Aug 10: Senior politician and member of the federal council of the People’s Party Parliamentarians Qurban Ali died of cardiac arrest here on Wednesday. He was 72. He has left his wife and three sons to mourn his death.

Qurban Ali started his political career in early 1970s in Karachi and remained with the PPP till his death.

In Northern Areas, he spearheaded the struggle for constitutional, democratic and political rights of the people of the Northern Areas.

He also served as a special adviser to the prime minister from Northern Areas during the first stint of Benazir Bhutto.
