KARACHI: The late-night drizzle in parts of Karachi led to a drop in the temperature in the metropolis as winds coupled with overcast sky further intensified the cold weather conditions on Friday.

The Met office warned that the chilly days would stay for the next few days and the mercury could drop to 14 degree Celsius.

A senior official said that the fresh rain system which entered the country from Iran could cause more scattered drizzle till Saturday morning and it was expected to fizzle out in the second half the day.

However, the cold weather is likely to persist for the next few days under the influence of westerly winds that are affecting the southern region of the country.

“The drizzle is expected till Saturday morning,” said Sardar Sarfaraz at the Karachi Met office. “It would cause drop in the temperature that could touch 14 to 15 degree Celsius in nights. This trend is expected to stay till Nov 19 or 20 and then we expect the same weather conditions which we usually see in November in Karachi.”

In its official advisory the Met office predicted light rain with occasional thunderstorm at isolated places in Thatta and Karachi division during the next 24 hours.

The metropolis experienced cloudy and misty morning in the early hours of Friday as the Met department forecast cloudy weather with chances of light rain.
