Navy bag eight gold medals to retain title

KARACHI: Navy amassed eight golds and a silver medal to retain their title in the 33rd National Games sailing regatta which concluded in the open sea near Oyster Rocks, Clifton Beach, on Thursday.

According to the Pakistan Sailing Federation, the navy sailors who dominated the regatta right from the word go and clinched the Team Racing (Laser Radial) gold on Thursday to complete their feat.

Army earned silver while the PAF grabbed bronze in Team Racing that marked conclusion of the regatta. The prize distribution ceremony will take place at the National Sailing Centre Friday.

The PAF finished overall runners-up way behind with a tally of one gold, three silver and four bronze while Amy settled third with 0-3-3- medals.

The trio of Rehmanullah, Khalid Hussain and Najeebullah excelled by capturing three gold medals apiece while Qasim Abbas picked up two gold for Navy.

Navy (Najeebullah, Khalid Hussain Rehmanullah, Muzammil Hassan and Mrs. Marium Asad Ali) gold, Army (Ayub Anjam, Tahir Naveed, Imran Sabir, Allah Ditta and Mrs. Farhat Shaheen) silver, PAF (Sajjad Abbasi, Mohammad Waseem, Mohammad Sajjad, Mohammad Azeem and Ms. Hanna Ibrahim Asad) bronze.
