Candidate’s nephew killed

GUJRANWALA, Aug 9: The nephew of a nazim candidate was shot dead by rival group over an election row in Sanser Goraya locality here on Tuesday. Reports said a group, led by former nazim of UC-166 Rana Shahbaz Ahmad, clashed with nazim hopeful Ikram Gujjar group over preparation of ID cards. The former group opened fire as a result of which Ahsan, son of SI Muhammad Shafiq and nephew of Ikram Gujjar died on the spot.

42 BOOKED: As many as 42 people, including a nazim hopeful, were booked by Sabzi Mandi police on charges of abusing and intimidating their rival candidates here on Tuesday.

Reports said councillor candidate Farid Butt was sitting in his election office along with his supporter Kaleem Bhatti when accused Khalifa Munawar, a nazim hopeful, and his supporters came, abused them and threatened them with dire consequences over election row.
