Four bandits arrested

NAWABSHAH, Aug 8: Police on Monday arrested four bandits and seized arms, ammunition and two motorcycles in two different encounters. A police team along with personnel of the crime intelligence cell conducted a raid on Mian Khan Rind and Hashim Mari villages.

After an encounter, police arrested bandits Karo alias Sajan Bheel, Ghulam Hyder, Singhar and Gulsher Rind and recovered one kalashnikov, one repeater, revolver, pistol and bullets and two motorcycles from them.

DPO Ghulam Hyder Jamali told Dawn that the police recovered two hostages Shafi Mohammad and Mohammad Juman Junejo.

He said Karo alias Sajan Bheel was wanted by police in more than 15 cases in Nawabshah and Sanghar districts and was involved in motorcycle snatching in different areas.

Sources said that an FIR (12/05) under section 17/3 at the Jam Sahib police station, two FIRs (12/05) and (13/05) under sections 353, 324 and section 13-D of the Arms Act at the 60-mile police station and FIR (14/05) under sections 353 and 324 at the Taluka police station were lodged against the accused.

WALK: The health department organized a walk to create awareness among public to administer polio drops to their children here on Monday.

EDO health Dr Ali Nawaz Khoso, PMC MS Dr Naseer Shaikh, Dr Anwar Akhund and Dr Shams Shaikh started from the PMC hospital and after passing through different streets and ended at the press club.

The participants including lady health workers were carrying placards and banners.

Dr Khoso said the health department had set up many camps in different parts of districts including the rural areas where the staff would be present. He said polio was a menace and public should support the health department to get rid of the disease.

He said called people to bring their children under five years of age to the nearest camp and administer anti-polio vaccine on August 9, 10 and 11.
