DISPUTE: A clash erupted between the Saleemkai and Buryankhel tribes in the Makeen area over a dispute on the ownership of a mountain.
Sources said the rival tribes pounded each other’s positions with heavy fire. However, no loss of life was reported.
The exchange of fire began when a tribal jirga failed to resolve the dispute.
An official said in Wana that the political authorities had sent paramilitary forces to the area to broker a ceasefire between the two tribes.
