ISLAMABAD, Aug 8: The government is planning to convene the National Assembly session on August 29, a source said on Monday. This will be the first session after the passage of the federal budget for the financial year 2005-06 in June.

The source said that the government did not convene any session in the month of July fearing that it might not be able to maintain quorum due to the activities of ruling PML MNAs in their respective constituencies in connection with the forthcoming local body elections.

The source said that the government had decided to convene the session after completion of the two phases of the elections. The session, he said, would continue for about 15 days and then again it would be prorogued to provide time to members for the third and final phase of the local body polls in which district nazims would be elected on Sept 29.
