KARACHI: Police authorities on Thursday awarded cash and other rewards to the investigation team that probed the murder case of BOL TV anchor Mureed Abbas and his friend over a monetary dispute in Defence recently and succeeded in arresting the suspects, according to officials.

DIG South Sharjeel Kharal said that the probe team had succeeded in arresting fugitive suspect Adil Zaman, brother of prime suspect in the murder case, Atif Zaman.

He said that raids had been conducted in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and several other places for the arrest of the suspect.

At one stage when he found out that a police party was looking for him in the town he fled to Karachi, he said.

The probe team chased him to Karachi and arrested him at a hotel in Saddar with the help of hotel record. Police also recovered license of the pistol which was used in the murder and a motorcycle, he said.

The DIG said the police also remained in constant contact with the murder victim’s family members and widow of late Abbas.
