LAHORE, Aug 7: Chances of Pakistan’s top ranking pair Wajid Ali and Omer Zeeshan’s participation in the World badminton championship seem uncertain as the USA Embassy in Islamabad has still not issued them visas, while only seven days are left for the start of the event in California, scheduled from Aug 15.

The Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) had applied for the visas about a month ago but has not received any response from the USA Embassy. Pakistan, for the first time, qualified for the World mega event on merit after among top 50 nations of the world.

A spokesman of the federation said that further delay in issuing the visas could deprive the players of getting international exposures from the world prestigious competition for which they have been working hard.

The spokesman further said that the Pakistan pair not only qualified for the event but another good news for them was that they had qualified for the second round after getting byes in the first round.
