KARACHI, Aug 6: Desparado, the eight-year old half-bred horse, with two back-to-back wins under his belt, start as our day’s best when the Summer Gymkhana race meeting gets underway at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday. Ridden by jockey Muhammad Essa, Desparado romped home in the previous two meetings and is poised to make it three in a row. Among the seven competitors drawn in the five furlongs second race of the afternoon, four-year old filly, Clapping is expected to give him tough time.

After finishing runners-up on July 24 with rider Ali Ahsan in the saddle, Clapping made amends in the last meeting topping the list of twelve runners. Clapping and Royal Loyality are likely to settle for places.

Five-year old bay, Royal Leader should win the first race of day. Jet Zone and Silver Sweet will be battling it out for the places. Arab-Hi-Arab, the three-year old bay colt, looks certain to dominate the third race with six horses’ in the fray. Fire Of Desire and Fakhr-e-Sanghar would vie for places. This is the only race on card drawn for six furlongs.

Owned by Mr. Wali Muhammad, eight-year old half-bred Chand Aya, who had to be content with second slot in the last outing, seems a strong contender in the fourth race. He will be followed by Little Sunny and Baby Tabassum.

Nine-year old half-bred Ghori, who was deprived of a hat trick after winning honours on June 26 and July 3 should make amends this time after having a poor run in the last four meetings. Seven-year old dark bay-mare Ghabra and Golden Copy will fight for the two places.

Fascinate ridden by Waheed Baran who came out with flying colours in the last meeting is tipped to make it two in a row in the sixth race. Order Of The Day and Sonia looks certain for securing second and third positions.

Four-year old grey-colt, Dragon Heart, is tipped to win the last race but in the process will have to overcome fighting Lady Freedom. Both have won their respective races on July 24.Bilal Choice should secured a place.
