Weekly Sunday bazaar opens in Lakki city

LAKKI MARWAT: Deputy commissioner Jehangir Azam Wazir inaugurated weekly Sunday bazaar in Lakki city to enable citizens to get edible items on subsidised rates.

The bazaar has been established on a vast tract of land owned by tehsil municipal administration near Haji Gul Badshah Chowk in Mela Mandi area.

The deputy commissioner went to different stalls and talked to vendors and shoppers about availability and prices of daily use commodities. On the occasion, traders demanded renovation of the bazaar and more facilities, including availability of drinking water and establishment of permanent stalls.

The customers welcomed the establishment of weekly bazaar and urged the administration to issue a separate pricelist for traders doing business there.

Mr Wazir directed the authorities to fix pavement tiles and set up permanent stalls for traders in the bazaar. He also directed them to ensure availability of drinking water and other facilities both for vendors and buyers.

PARK’S ENTRY GATE OPENS: Provincial secretary environment, forestry and wildlife Shahidullah Khan inaugurated the newly-built entry gate of Shaikh Badin National Park near Darra Pezu town on Sunday.

Wildlife chief conservator Dr Mohsin Farooq, conservator southern circle Mohammad Ali, project director national parks Mohammad Arif Orakzai and DFO wildlife DI Khan Khan Malook Khan were also present. Shahidullah Khan visited different parts of the park and got himself acquainted about the historical importance of the tourist resort of southern districts.

Chief conservator Dr Farooq briefed the provincial secretary about historical background, flora and fauna, historical monuments and various activities being carried out by the wildlife department for development of Shaikh Badin National Park.

Shahidullah Khan appreciated DFO Khan Malook Khan and his team for the efforts they had made for uplifting of park and conservation of wildlife in the area. He assured of all-out assistance to local officials for development of the park and protection of wildlife in southern districts.

Meanwhile, chief conservator Dr Mohsin Farooq along with other officials also paid inspection visits to the proposed sites of Thattal community game reserve, hog deer breeding centre and Roda private game reserve in DI Khan.

Mr Malook told Dawn that purpose of the visits was to check feasibility of sites and prepare a plan for development and management of wildlife in the region.
